COATING APPLICATOR FOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC PHOTORECEPTOR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a coating applicator for a substrate of an electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The coating applicator is dividable to an upper part 20 and lower part 10 of a vessel. A coating liquid supplied from a coating liquid supplying port 11 overflows from an aperture in the upper part of a cylindrical section 30 to an overflow receiving section 21 and is refluxed to a coating liquid supplying tank from a discharge port 22. The coating application vessel is constituted by connecting the upper part and lower part of the vessel by a connecting section 12 to eliminate the leakage of the coating liquid. The coating application vessel is filled with the coating liquid and the substrate is immersed from the upper part into the inner diameter part of the cylindrical section and is withdrawn, by which a photosensitive layer is applied on the surface of the substrate. The height h2 of this time is set longer than (r12×h1)/r22 (r1 denotes the outer diameter of the substrate, h1 denotes the length of the substrate) so as to be made longer than the lowering portion of the level when the substrate is withdrawn. As a result, the lowering of the coating liquid surface is effected only at the perpendicular part of the upper part of the vessel and therefore the liquid level lowering speed is made relatively constant with respect to the withdrawing speed of the substrate and the uniform photoreceptor free of application unevenness is obtained.
