PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low expansion glass composition having a low expansion coefficient and high heat resistance, usable for bonding quartz glass, adaptable even to the adhesion of high silicate glass and capable of achieving accurate and easy adhesion of glass with high transparency and airtightness without impairing the flatness of the glass. SOLUTION: The low expansion glass composition comprises 76.8-83.4 wt.% SiO2, 0.3-1.0 wt.% Al2O3, 15.5-21.0 wt.% B2O3 and 0.8-1.2 wt.%, in total, of Na2O and K2O.
