PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material conveying device capable of correcting the dislocation of a base material in a conveying direction without causing much damage to the base material, and to provide a method of manufacturing a base material coating body. SOLUTION: This base material conveying device 1 has base material holding members 10a, 10b for holding both edge parts of the base material. The base material holding members 10a, 10b are composed of pressure rollers 12 and plates 13. The pressure rollers 12 on both lateral sides are arranged inclining with respect to the conveying direction of the base material 2 so that the axes intersect on the conveying direction side of the base material 2. Each pressure roller 12 is individually driven by an air cylinder 15. The base material conveying device 1 has edge sensors 20a, 20b for detecting both edge positions of the base material 2. The dislocation of the base material 2 in the conveying direction can be corrected by driving the air cylinder 15 so as to change the number of operated pressure rollers 12 on both lateral sides according to the detected result of the edge sensors.
