PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of judging a recording paper as a document in a plurality of automatic document reading parts. SOLUTION: The width of a recording paper of irregular size as a document 21, i.e., the length of the recording paper of irregular size in main scanning direction is calculated based on read signals from an focusing element 43. Also, the length of the recording paper of irregular size, i.e., the length of the recording paper of irregular size in auxiliary scanning direction is calculated based on the number of steps of a stepping motor 52 and the time counted in a time period from a time when a document length sensor 25 detects the tip of the recording paper of irregular size to a time when the sensor 25 detects the rear end of the recording paper of irregular size. As a result, the recording paper size of irregular type can be judged by the plurality of automatic document reading parts (ADF).
