PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly prevent the damage to the electrodes provided in an electrolytic cell, caused by electrolytic water made immediately after venting, for an electrolytic water making apparatus. SOLUTION: The electrolytic water making apparatus is equipped with the electrolytic cell 10 for electrolyzing raw water, supplied from an external supply source, by the predetermined voltage applied across a pair of housed electrodes 14 and 15 to make electrolytic water, a pump 38 for mixing concentrated salt water with the raw water from a salt water tank 30 and a changeover valve 70 for allowing the discharge side of the pump 38 to selectively communicate with the electrolytic cell 10 and a discharge pipe 71. An electric control circuit 60 changes over the changeover valve 70 so that the discharge side of the pump 38 communicates with the discharge pipe 71 at the time of air venting, Therefore, the concentrated salt water remaining in the pipeline between the pump 38 and the changeover valve 70 is discharged through the changeover valve 70 and the discharge pipe 71 accompanied by air venting but, since the concentrated salt water remaining in the pipeline between the changeover valve 70 and the electrolytic cell 10 is not sent out, the concentrated salt water is not supplied to the electrolytic cell 10.
