PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low non-linear single mode optical fiber having a large effective cross-sectional area and sufficiently reducing a dispersion slope. SOLUTION: An optical fiber core part has four-layer structure having the refractive index distribution of mean values n1, n2, n3, and n4 from the center of the diameter to the outside and a clad layer of refractive index n0 on the outside of the four-layer structure, the dispersion slope in a 1.55μm wavelength band is <=0.08 ps/nm/nm/km and the effective crosrsectional area is >=70μm2.
