PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage type television camera that improves the image quality when the image pickup element stores electric charges for a long time in an image pickup state at a low illuminance so as to decrease more a minimum object illuminance. SOLUTION: In order to solve the task above, a reference voltage to decide a white level of an analog/digital converter is decreased or a gamma characteristic of an intermediate level of a video signal is arisen or a reference voltage to decide a black level of the analog/digital converter is increased depending on an exposure time of the image pickup element so as to cut off a noise component of the video signal at a black level that is a low level.
