PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binding member capable of easily binding elongated articles such as cords, wire rods, and bundled or cylindrically rounded paper or plastic products, and a lidded container or the like with one piece of a rubber band. SOLUTION: This binding member is the one formed by mounting a hook 2 having an annular part 3 for inserting a hook part 4 and a rubber band therethrough to the rubber band 1. The rubber band 1 is wound around elongated articles 11 and, by hooking the hook part 4 to the top end of the rubber band wound around the elongated articles 11, the binding is completed. In the case where the binding is loose with the single winding, the rubber band is doubly or trebly wound around the elongated articles 11, and the hook part is then hooked to the top end of the rubber band, thus completing the binding.
