PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast program reserving apparatus that enables reserved reception of broadcast programs of channels, the schedule of which fluctuates. SOLUTION: Displayed characters and their attribute are set as reservation conditions with respect to character display on a screen, and a reservation condition storage section 20 stores the reservation conditions. A template storage section 22 registers, in advance a character display position on the screen and the attribute of the characters displayed at the position as a template. A character display monitor section 6 applies time division control to a searching tuner 44, to enable a monitor section 42 to monitor image signals of channels sequentially outputted. When the monitor section 42 detects character display, in matching with the reservation conditions in the reservation condition storage section 20 and the template stored in the template storage section 20 in the image, a channel control section 10 switches a channel selected by a main tuner 8 into a channel, from which reserved character display is detected, and a television monitor 14 displays the image of the channel.
