PURPOSE: A method for activating fiber material by installing a corona discharge apparatus as an ionized gas irradiating means on a placing plate and then irradiating ionized gas generated from the apparatus onto the fiber material is provided. The whole fiber material can be uniformly activated only by one irradiation because the method increases the irradiation amount of ionized gas per unit area. CONSTITUTION: A corona discharge apparatus(4) as an ionized gas irradiating means is placed on a placing plate(3) for placing fiber material(2) and ionized gas(E) generated from the corona discharge apparatus is irradiated on the fiber. The ionized gas penetrates into the fiber material from the surface to the back under the influence of the magnetic field generated by the placing plate. The textile material is fully ionized from the surface to the back by this apparatus. The corona discharge apparatus comprises a corona discharging part(4a), and a compressor(4b) functioning as a device for supplying ionized gas such as argon, helium, nitrogen, natural air or the like.
