PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization measuring apparatus easy to manufacture. SOLUTION: The polarization measuring apparatus 1 has a collecting optical system, four phase plates 61 (61a-61d), one polarizing plate 7, four light-receiving elements 81 (81a-81d) and a computing process part. Phase advance axes of the four phase plates 61 have four different angelsα0,α1,α2 andα3 to a polarization direction AR1 of the polarizing plate 7. Each phase plate 61 changes a phase state of a light L from the collecting optical system, and the polarizing plate 7 polarizes the light passing each of the four phase plates 61 to a predetermined polarization direction. The four light-receiving elements 81 receive the lights passing the polarizing plate 7 from the four phase plates 61 respectively, and the computing process part calculates a Stoke's parameter of the incident light L on the basis of an intensity of the light received at each of the four light-receiving elements 81. The polarizing plate 7 has the same polarization direction AR1 to all phase plates 61, and therefore the phase plates 61 and the polarizing plate 7 are easy to register.
