A stacking system for stacking empty glass or PET containers, or metal cans. The method comprises the steps of i) arranging a first layer of empty containers (1) on a substantially rigid planar base (2); ii) placing a first substantially planar divider means (4) over the first layer (1) of containers such that the divider means extends fully over any said opening in each said container, and said divider being in contact with the peripheral containers of the first layer; iii) stacking alternate layers of containers and divider means onto the first divider; iv) placing a substantially rigid frame (5) over the top most divider to form a rigid perimeter; v) using securing means (10) to tightly secure the frame and base to one another to thereby stabilize the resultant stack; vi) Wrapping the resultant stack in a layer of impermeable material to prevent contamination of the containers during subsequent transportation or storage. |
