PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat slide device for vehicle that can withstand an impact load within a slide range at least for normal sitting when a large upward impact load acts on a seat. SOLUTION: When impact force acts on a seat S, engaging portions 344 and 345 projecting below a groove 24 cut in a baseplate 20 from an engaging bracket 34 arranged on the undersurface of a slide table 33 are engaged with the undersurface of a top portion 21 of the baseplate 20 along both edges of the groove 24 to thereby withstand the forward and upward impact force. The engagement is ensured similarly in any slide position of the seat S.
