METHOD OF REMOVING CHLORATE IN AQUEOUS ALKALI CHLORIDE SOLUTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of removing chlorate which decomposes away the chlorate in an aqueous alkali chloride solution by hydrochloric acid, drastically decreases the by-production amount of chlorine dioxide and reduces the consumption of the hydrochloric acid. SOLUTION: The method of removing the chlorate in the aqueous alkali chloride solution consists in introducing the aqueous chlorate-containing alkali chloride solution to be subjected to a cation exchange membrane process electrolysis of an aqueous alkali chloride solution and the hydrochloric acid into a first stage of reaction chambers of multiple stages connected in series and successively transferring the reaction liquid into the cells of post stages, thereby decomposing the chlorate.
