PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always secure the optimal condition of a guide rail, preventing dew condensation and freezing in the guide rail. SOLUTION: The temperature of the surface of the guide rail 5 for guiding an elevator car 15 or a balance weight is detected by a temperature sensor 21, and the guide rail 5 is heated by a guide rail heating means 23 based on the detection signal at temperature in a prescribed range to prevent generation of dew condensation and freezing in the guide rail.
