PURPOSE: An array substrate of a liquid crystal display and a method of fabricating the array substrate are provided to improve aperture ratio of a liquid crystal display and to acquire sufficient sub capacitance, fast operation characteristic and small parasitic capacitance between gate and drain electrodes. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate of a liquid crystal display includes a substrate(100), a gate line(102) including a gate electrode(101) formed on the substrate, and a data line intersecting the gate line to define a pixel region. The array substrate further includes a thin film transistor having the gate electrode, an active layer(116), source and drain electrodes(112,114), and a transparent pixel electrode(117) coming into contact with the drain electrode. The source electrode pattern has a recess, and a portion of the drain electrode is placed in the recess of the source electrode.
