PURPOSE: A method for processing a DTMF signal in a portable phone is provided to emulate and display or store a DTMF signal received from the other side in a traffic state as if a user inputted it through the keypad of his/her terminal. CONSTITUTION: In either of two DTMF signal recognition modes, if a DTMF signal is received from the other side in a traffic state, a user's portable phone detects the DTMF signal. The user's portable phone processes the detected DTMF signal like a DTMF signal generated when the user pushed and inputs arbitrary keys.
