PURPOSE: A shock absorbing structure of a steering column is provided to increase a friction area by extending friction protrusions in a radial direction by forming the friction protrusions in integration with an outer pipe. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorbing structure of a steering column includes a steering shaft(30), an outer pipe(11) and an inner pipe(12), and a number of friction protrusions(50). The steering shaft is mounted to transmit steering power of a car. The outer pipe and the inner pipe are formed on the outside of the steering shaft to mount the steering shaft on the car, and expand and contract in an axial direction by external shock. The friction protrusions are formed in the axial direction on an inner circumference of the outer pipe, protrude to the inside, and are contacted with the outer circumference of the inner pipe.
