PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program information storing and transmitting device for integratedly storing, managing and transmitting program related data in relation to encoded compressed video and audio signals by using a magnetic disk drive and a tape recorder, and its data managing method. SOLUTION: This program information storing and transmitting device comprises an encoding means 12 for encoding video and audio signals constituting a program and a program identifier for identifying the video and audio signals, a transmission information processing means 11 for processing the transmitting timing of the program and the transmission information of the program identifier, a storage controlling means 13 for storing the program related data related to the video and audio signals in a recording medium while making the program related data correspond to the program identifier, a transmission controlling means 13 for obtaining video and audio signals and the program related data corresponding to designated transmitting timing and a designated program identifier from the recoding medium according to transmission control information of the transmission information processing means, and a multiplexing part 17 for multiplexing the video and audio signals obtained from the transmission controlling means and results obtained by converting the input format of the program related data in time division and transmitting the video and audio signals and the results to the outside.
