PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a cylinder block. SOLUTION: In the cylinder block 1 for an internal combustion engine, a head bolt hole with which a bolt to mount a cylinder head on the cylinder block is threadedly joined is provided. The part of the cylinder block in which the head bolt hole is formed is formed of an aluminium alloy and at least a party of a remaining part is formed of a magnesium alloy.
