PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that can reduce the start time. SOLUTION: The electronic camera is provided with photographing means (12, 13) that photograph an object image, a recording means 20 that converts the photographed object image into image data and records the data to a removable recording medium, a reading means 45 that reads management information of the recording medium from the recoding medium, and a storage means 61 that stores the management information read from the recording medium and prepares for photographing, on the basis of the management information stored in the storage means at the application of power.
