PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ringer tone distribution system for a portable terminal and an advertisement method using this system. SOLUTION: In the system to distribute ringer tone data provided to a ringer tone distribution server to a portable terminal, the ringer tone distribution server has a storage section that stores ringer tone data and information associated with the ringer tone data, an information transmission means that transmits information associated with optional ringer tone data among the ringer tone data stored in the storage section to the portable terminal, and a means that extracts the ringer toner data designated by a download request sent from the portable terminal from the storage section and transmits the extracted ringer tone data to the portable terminal.
