PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microstep drive apparatus for improving activation characteristics of a stepping motor that is rotated at a high speed, to provide a method for driving the microstep drive apparatus, and a stepping motor apparatus using the drive apparatus regarding a stepping motor apparatus used for a vehicle-mounted pointer type meter or the like, a microstep drive apparatus used for the apparatus, and to provide a method for driving the drive apparatus. SOLUTION: In a microstep drive method for driving the stepping motor, by dividing a basic step angle into fine step angles by a division number (n), and changing an excitation current, that is made to flow to excitation coils 28 and 44 in steps at each minute step angle at a specific step time width, specific steps out of steps determined, based on the rotation request from a detection section 48 at the beginning of start are driven at a first step time width tw1, and then the succeeding steps are driven at a second step time width tw2, that is different from the first step time width. |
