PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for vehicles by exercising ingenuity in the way of using a display surface of a liquid crystal panel and displaying two kinds of display information that a driver desires to view discriminatingly so as to assure good visual recognizability while averting upsizing of a light source of the liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: The light source 40 existing behind the liquid crystal panel 60 has a first light emitting diode group 40b and a second light emitting diode group 40c. Respective light emitting diodes 43 of the second light emitting diode group 40c are higher in directivity than the respective light emitting diodes 42 of the first light emitting diode group 40b and exist on the side upper than the respective light emitting diodes 42. As a result, the liquid crystal panel 60 receives the light of the respective light emitting diodes 42 through a diffusion plate 50 and displays the low-priority display information in part of the display surface.
