PURPOSE: A method for determining the initial transmit power of an access channel is provided so that a mobile station can effectively control the power of an access channel in consideration of whether a forward link packet service is being used. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal judges whether power information to be used for a packet service has been transmitted from a base station, and confirms whether a forward link packet service is being used(S10). In case that the power information has been received, which means that the forward link packet service is being used, the mobile terminal executes the power control of a reverse link random access channel using the power information(S11). However, if the power information is not received, the mobile terminal executes interference correction and controls the signal power of the reverse link random access channel(S12). |
