PURPOSE: A Q setter apparatus for a vertical lathe is provided to perform easily an assembly and disassembly of an arm head in which a sensor is mounted, and a compensation of a sensor position. CONSTITUTION: A Q setter apparatus comprises a sensor(11) for sensing an offset amount of a tool, an arm head(12) for supporting the sensor, an arm(13) for supporting the arm head, a pin(14) for limiting a rotation area of the arm, a holder(15), a foreign material preventing cover(16) for preventing a penetration of a foreign material, a bracket(17) for supporting the holder, an arm cover for receiving the unused arm head, and a bolt for fixing the arm, the holder and the bracket from a side. A limit switch is used as the sensor. The arm head rotates 180 degree with the arm, and is stored to the arm cover installed at an upper portion when the arm is not used.
