PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder, the image recorder control method and an automated developer all of which eliminate the need for the frequent interruption of an exposure in an exposure unit. SOLUTION: The image recorder is provided with a loop formation part by which looseness is formed in the sensitive material, a frame information storage means by which the length of an image frame is stored, and a loop control means by which the scale of looseness is controlled. The upstream transfer scheduled quantity is determined by the image recorder due to the fact that the loop control means reads out of the frame information storage means for totalization the length of the image frame under transfer or scheduled for transfer on the upstream of the loop formation part. The downstream transfer scheduled quantity is determined by the image recorder due to the fact that the downstream transfer scheduled quantity is composed of the length of the image frame under transfer or scheduled for transfer on the downstream of the loop formation part. The image recorder controls the scale of looseness on the basis of the difference between the upstream transfer scheduled quantity and the downstream transfer scheduled quantity.
