PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform reproduction at a high transfer rate by a plurality of magnetic heads for reproduction. SOLUTION: While 1st and 3rd magnetic heads HRA1 and HRA2 for recording have an azimuth angle -αdeg., 2nd and 4th magnetic head HRB2 and HRB2 for recording have an azimuth angle +αdeg. and the 1st to 4th magnetic heads record (N)th (N: an integer larger than 1) to (N+3)th recording tracks at alternate azimuth angles without any guard band. A couple of 1st and 3rd magnetic heads HPA1 and HPA2 for reproduction have an azimuth angle -αdeg. are formed in one body on one chip while having their one-track heights made different, and reproduce the (N)th to (N+2)th recording tracks almost at the same time and 2nd and 4th magnetic heads HPB1 and HPB2 for reproduction have an azimuth angle +αdeg., are formed in one body on one chip while having their one-track heights made different, and reproduce the (N+1)th to (N+3)th recording tracks almost at the same time.
