PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide refrigerating apparatus and its control method capable of improving the efficiency of the refrigerating apparatus and of reducing the fuel cost of an engine and waste gas. SOLUTION: There are provided a compressor 17, a gas engine 30 that is a driving source of the foregoing compressor 17, a motor 31 that is a driving force of the compressor 17, and a control device 15 for controlling driving the compressor 17 in response to a load with the aid of the gas engine 30 and/ or the motor 31.
