PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner, capable of detecting also the frosting of an indoor heat exchanger, that occurs when indoor and outdoor temperatures are low or in such cases, capable of preventing blockage of blowing and thereby improving the efficiency of a cooling operation and capable of maintaining easily a distance between the indoor heat exchanger and a temperature sensing element. SOLUTION: The purpose can be achieved by making appropriate the distance between the indoor heat exchanger and the temperature-sensing element and by providing a member for retaining the temperature-sensing element with a slit parallel to the indoor heat exchanger.
