PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching regulator in which ripple voltage can be suppressed in a light load. SOLUTION: An error amplifier 104 compares a reference voltage 101 with a voltage at the joint of bleeder resistors 102 and 103 for dividing the output voltage VOUT from an SW regulator and amplified the difference. Output voltage from the error amplifier 104 is fed to a VFO(Variable Frequency Oscillator) circuit 105 which can vary the frequency depending on an inputted voltage level. A PWM comparator 106 compares the outputs from the VFO circuit 105 and the error amplifier 104 and outputs the difference. Output from the PWM comparator 106 turns the SW element of the SW regulator on or off.
