PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately report the arrival of a call at a portable telephone which has come into wide use. SOLUTION: The apparatus for reporting the arrival of a call is set to a register mode by an operation of a user 4, receives calling waves from a base station 3 for calling a portable telephone 2, identifies a telephone number from the called waves, causes a telephone number storage and register unit 15 to store and register the identified telephone number, compares a subsequently identified telephone number with the telephone number of the portable telephone 2 which is stored and registered in the telephone number storage and register unit 15, vibrates to indicate the user that an incoming call has arrived at the portable telephone 2 when the telephone numbers match. The apparatus further sorts a telephone number of the transmitting side from the received waves, and the telephone number of the transmitting side is stored in a transmitting side telephone number storage unit 21 and displayed on a display unit 25.
