PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which allows an optical head to move in a stable state. SOLUTION: An optical disk device 1000 is provided with: an optical head 2 which records or reproduces data in or from a disk 8; a first guide member 1R which has a first axis 1017 practically parallel to the disk 8 and supports the optical head 2 so that it can be moved along the first axis 1017, a second guide member 1L which limits rotation of the optical head 2 around the first axis 1017 a rack 3 which is mounted on the optical head 2 and has a reference pitch line 1018 practically parallel tot the first axis 1017, a pinion 5S which is rotated while being engaged with the rack 3 to move the optical head 2, and a pressing means 6 which presses the rack 3 toward the pinion 5S. The vector of a force 304a which the pinion 5S exerts on the rack 3 in response to pressing of the rack 3 toward the pinion 5S by the pressing means 6 practically intersects the first axis 1017.
