PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car body rear structure of an automobile capable of effectively dispersing an impact load from the rear to the whole car body, capable of efficiently absorbing the impact load, and superior in safety. SOLUTION: This car body rear structure of the automobile has left and right rear side frames 3 and 4, and a cross member 6 installed between front parts of the rear side frames 3 and 4, and has a stiffening frame 10 formed in a plan view almost Y shape out of a first inclined frame 11 having the rear end joined to an intermediate position of the rear side frame 3, and deviating to the car body width directional central side for transferring forward, a second inclined frame 12 having the rear end joined to an intermediate position of the rear side frame 4, and deviating to the car body width directional central side for transferring forward, and a main frame 13 extending in the longitudinal direction in the car body width directional central side, and connected to the cross member 6 and the front end of the first and second inclined frames 11 and 12.
