PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which the probability of correction of a defect in a display area is improved by lowering the probability of occurrence of a short circuit at crossing parts of rescue wiring and signal lines of the liquid crystal display device provided with thin film transistors. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with wiring (rescue wiring) 2 for correcting active matrix elements and the defect in the display area of the liquid crystal display device, wiring (signal lines) 8 for inputting display signals, and an interlayer insulating film for the crossing parts of the rescue wiring 2 and the signal lines 8; a gate insulating film 3 is formed between the rescue wiring 2 and a semiconductor layer 4; and a 2nd insulating film 6 is formed between the semiconductor layer 4 and the signal lines 8. Thus, this improves the insulation and lowers the probability of occurrence of short circuit at the crossing parts of the rescue wiring and the signal lines to improve the probability of correction of the defect in the display area.
