PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce difficulty in looking at the time indication caused by the image overlapped with a character image, and also to reduce degradation of a character image view, in a standby screen displayed on a display 5 of a portable telephone. SOLUTION: A control unit 2 includes modification setting means 21-26 for changing the indication frame position and the shape of the time image, etc., as well as for changing time, and an image conversion means 27. A storage unit 4 includes conversion data storage areas 41, 42, 43 for storing a standby screen image, time data and conversion data. The time indication frame in the standby screen can be modified to a desired size and shape, and a desired position is determined. On determining the position, the time image is converted by the image conversion means 27 and displayed, and also the conversion data is stored.
