The drive motor (10) of the vehicle is powered by electricity which is generated by a fuel cell (6) and fed via a control unit (9). The fuel gas, e.g. hydrogen, is stored in an insulated tank (1) and fed to the fuel cell by a valve (8). The inner part of the tank is connected via a Peltier element (11) and thermal conductor (13) to an external cooling plate (14). The electrical power needed to operate the Peltier element is fed back (12) from the output of the fuel cell.
