PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reduce the volume of the filtered residues, dirt, mud and the like generated from sewage treatment and further perform a large-scale treatment by cultivating and proliferating soil microorganisms by the use of a part of a sewage treatment system and a part of untreated drainage enriched with a nutrient source for microorganisms, circulating the cultured and proliferated soil microorganisms within the sewage treatment system and eliminating offensive odors generated in each section of the sewage treatment place by the action of the soil microorganisms. SOLUTION: Soil microorganisms are cultivated and proliferated by the use of a part of a sewage treatment system 1 and a part of untreated drainage enriched with a source of nutrients for microorganisms, and the cultivated and proliferated microorganisms are circulated within the sewage treatment system 1. Thus, the offensive odors generated in all the sections of the sewage treatment place are eliminated by the action of the microorganisms and in addition, the ability for the performance of a sewage treatment is enhanced.
