PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover set which prevents machining accuracy for workpiece from deterioration caused by accumulation of hot cutting chips on exposed machine surfaces such as the headstock, toolpost or the like. SOLUTION: Work holding parts 8 and 10 and a cutting tool T which are concerned in cutting processes are protruded in the machining area in which cutting chips are produced, and the machining area is covered with side covers 21 and 22 and a top cover 25 in order to eliminate exposed flat surfaces and restrict splashing range of cutting chips. The side covers and the top cover are fixed on supporting parts near the work holding parts and the tool, and the cutting chips dropped in an opening area below the machining area are conveyed with a chip conveyor 6 out of the machine.
