PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a magnesium alloy which has excellent running properties in a molten state, and has sufficient mechanical properties in a thinnly formed state, to provide a casing made of the magnesium alloy produced by using same, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy contains magnesium as the main component, and contains 9.0 to 13.0 pts.wt. aluminum, 0.4 to 1.0 pts.wt. zinc, 0.17 to 1.0 pts.wt. manganese and 0.05 to 0.3 pts.wt. silicon.
