PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an output torque in a medium-speed rotation region between a low-speed rotation region and a high-speed rotation region in an in- cylinder fuel injection type internal combustion engine in which fuel injection timing by a fuel injection valve 12 is set each near a bottom dead center during an intake stroke in the low-speed rotation region and near a top dead center in the high-speed rotation region. SOLUTION: The fuel injection by the fuel injection valve 12 in the medium- speed rotation region is carried out by being divided in fuel injection at the stage near the bottom dead center during the intake stroke and fuel injection at the stage near the top dead center during the intake stroke.
