PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-function microscope which is capable of detecting the chemical base characterized by a specific vibration level by measuring a photoresponse at a super-high resolution by using light of two wavelengths; a IR ray or far IR ray corresponding to the resonance wavelength excitable to the specific vibration level in the molecules or crystals existing within a sample without using a far UV light source and a ray corresponding to the wavelength excitable to an electron excitation state of a high level from the specific vibration level. SOLUTION: This microscope has the first light source 1 which generates the first light for causing the transition of the molecules in a sample 15 from a base state to the high vibration level of a lowest electron state, the second light sources (1 and 3) which generate the second light for causing the transition of the molecules described above from the high vibration level of the lowest electron state to a quantum state of a higher energy level, optical systems (5, 7 and 9) which partly superpose the irradiation regions of the first light and the second light on each other over the sample 15, and a photodetector 21 which detects the emitted light from the regions irradiated with the first light and the second light on the sample 15.
