PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it happen that the heavy-load characteristic of a button battery is not deteriorated even if a negative sealing plate with no folded-back part having a U-shaped section is employed for the battery so as to make it a high capacity battery. SOLUTION: The button battery contains a positive active substance, a separator, and a negative active substance, wherein a positive electrode can 1 and the negative electrode sealing plate 5 are sealed up via a gasket 4 in an airtight manner. The negative electrode sealing plate 5 has no folded-back part having the U-shaped section on the periphery, so that the battery capacity is made high. Also, a gap g-1 is provided between the periphery of the negative sealing plate and the gasket, and/or a gap g-2 is provided between the positive can and the gasket, so that it never occur that the heavy-load characteristic of the battery is impaired when unnecessary electrolyte solution remains inside upon sealing the aperture of the battery. Thus, it becomes possible to make the battery have a high capacity while maintain the heavy-load characteristic of the battery.
