PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a sheet reversing position to a fixed position by detecting the sheet at plural times. SOLUTION: A sheet reversing apparatus B is equipped with a discharge roller pair 207 disposed downstream in one sheet feeding direction selected by a switching flapper for switching the feeding direction of a sheet fed by an inlet roller pair 202, a reversing roller pair 212, 213 that is disposed downstream in the other sheet feeding direction selected by the switching flapper and feeds the sheet fed by the inlet roller pair forwardly and reversely, a gate member 208 that is disposed between the switching flapper and the reversing roller pair, allows passage of the sheet from the switching flapper to the reversing roller pair and guides a sheet reversely fed by the reversing roller pair to a discharge roller pair, and a controller 117 for controlling the forward and reverse sheet-feeding of the reversing roller pair. The reversing roller pair serves as a part of a sheet detecting mechanism 217 for detecting the passage of the sheet from the switching flapper to the reversing roller pair.
