PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability when inputting information in a portable information terminal device. SOLUTION: A portable terminal 1 is formed allowing attachment and detachment of a button unit, and the button unit stores recognition information of the button unit. When the button unit is fixed on the portable terminal 1, the recognition information is read out and recognized by a CPU 30. And in a predetermined case in various processes, an icon is displayed on a display device 60 on the basis of the recognition information in order to make an input operation by the fixed button unit. Thereby, the button can be customized by exchanging the button unit according to a user's objective. Additionally, functions of the button unit fixed on the portable terminal 1 is easily understood by the user and the operability of the portable terminal 1 can be improved.
