PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition for coating tire cords capable of imparting sufficient adhesiveness to a plated steel rubber with a copper alloy and durability of the rubber composition. SOLUTION: This rubber composition for coating tire cords comprises 100 pts.wt. rubber component comprising at least one of a natural rubber and a diene-based synthetic rubber, added with 0.2-8 pts.wt. (A) phenol compound or phenolic resin, 0.5-5 pts.wt. [0.5-2.0 times of weight of the (A)] (B) hexamethyleneteramine derivative or melamine derivative, 0.1-5 pts.wt. (C) sulfur crosslinking stabilizer for suppressing isolation of sulfur by stabilizing sulfur cross-linkages for mutually crosslinking rubber polymers, 1-10 pts.wt. (D) insoluble sulfur expressed in terms of pure sulfur and 0.05-0.3 pts.wt. (E) cobalt salt of an organic acid expressed in terms of metal cobalt.
