PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collimator which has high durability against light of high intensity, which decreases loss by reflection of light and which is simplified in the structure to realize a small size and a low cost. SOLUTION: The collimator equipped with a coated optical fiber 2 and a rod lens 1 essentially comprising quartz glass is provided with a quartz glass tube 3 having a through hole 4 in which the coated optical fiber 2 is fusion bonded to one end face of the rod lens 1 and the top end of the coated optical fiber 2 is disposed. The quartz glass tube 3 is fixed by fusion bonding to the rod lens 1.
