PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply unit which makes effective use of voltage generated in a snubber circuit. SOLUTION: This switching power supply unit includes a snubber circuit consisting of a serial connection body having a diode D3 and a capacitor C3 connected to the primary winding 2a of a switching transformer in series, and a resistor R4 connected to the capacitor C3 in parallel. Further, the unit is provided with a capacitor voltage utilizing means (light emitting diode D4) taking the voltage generated across the capacitor C3 as a power voltage.
