PURPOSE: To provide a nonasbestos friction material having a moderate coefficient of friction and moderate descaling properties and affording good results in aspects of a squeak noise performances and aggressiveness toward an opposite face. CONSTITUTION: This nonasbestos friction material is obtained by molding and curing a nonasbestos friction material composition consisting essentially of a fiber substrate except asbestos, a binder and a filler. In the nonasbestos friction material, the filler contains a spherical or a beadlike glass having≤800 (kg/mm¬2) (DPH300 gf) Vickers hardness.
