PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an acrylic emulsion that is excellent in polymerization stability and gives an emulsion excellent in mechanical stability, freeze-thaw stability and standing stability at a high temperature even at a high concentration of a solids content of not less than 50 wt.% and that further gives an emulsion film excellent in mechanical properties. SOLUTION: The process for producing an acrylic emulsion comprises polymerizing, in the presence of (A) a resin emulsion having an average particle size of 0.3-10μm, (B) a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin and (C) a polymerization initiator, (D) an acrylic monomer.
